Sir Nicholas King of Ground Balls

ALC pulled out the win this weekend over San Antonio, 15-3. The defense put on a show and the offensive production was stellar. James Mansfield and Rudy Perales led the team with 3 goals and 5 goals, respectively; proving that if you try to shoot through the goalie enough he will eventually move out of the way. Matt McIntosh and Rich Chen lead the team with 3 blown goals.

After the game Bronson requested that “The Hermanator” moniker be stripped from Sir Nicholas until further notice due to his consistent ground ball performance that yielded a goal on Sunday. What do you think? (vote)

Next game is against PBR in Houston at Kincaid School (map).

On another note, apparently the players of ALC are broke or lazy because dues have not been received from the majority of the team. A wise man once said “Don’t be that guy…that guy with the black eye…” Rudy.

Next weekend we will be traveling to Houston, TX to play PBR on March 18th. D2 will play at 11am and D1 will play at 1pm.

A few housekeeping issues:

• Please bring dues or paypal them before the game. $175 for vets, $200 for rookies
• Uniforms will be handed out at the game this Sunday (rookies only).
• USL memberships (link) are required. The membership fee is only $50 and is a good supplemental (or primary) insurance while playing lacrosse. Ask Eric Glass about his experience.

D1 faced off at 1pm and jumped to an early lead. They cruised into halftime with the game, in the words of Coach Rocky, “in the bag.” Coach Rock was soon eating his words though when San Antonio came out with a vengeance and reeled off 6 goals to ALC’s 1. In the end, however, Austin prevailed winning 17-8. Chris Esposito was a major contributor dominating the face-off X.

We had a chance to catch up with Austin’s very own Stuart Shaw after the game who was still visibly shaken from being bulldozed in third. When asked what he thought of the game he responded, “the whistles go whoo whoooooo.”

The D2 game kicked off at 3pm and was dominated by ALC from beginning to end. Sig played stellar in between the pipes and THE “Minnow” put on a shooting clinic going 0 for 223. Jordan Stone and Danny Harper were the leading scorers with 2 goals and 3 goals respectively. The finals score was ALC 13, SA 1.

Congratulations to Nick Hermandorfer who broke the team record for most ground ball attempts without actually touching the ball.

2009 Division I Champions

The D2 looks to take home the trophy in its first season Saturday, May 30th at 4PM verse Coppell.

In addition to the D2 championship game, the D1 final four will also take place on Saturday, May 30th. The first game is at noon and pits #2 Big D verse #3 PBR. Our top seeded, and undefeated D1 team will play in the second game at 2PM verse #4 North Dallas. The winner of each game will play in the championship game at 2PM on Sunday, May 31st. A consolation game will be played at noon.

Post game festivities will take place at Blackfinn, 4440 Belt Line Rd, Addison, TX, where cold beer will be flowing from 6PM-2AM. There will be food and drink specials all night. Everyone is invited!!
